11-15 Nov Sailing the Pacific

This post is based primarily on Don's notes, occasionally supplemented with MT's notes from our cruise in November-December 2023. When information from other sources is added—for further explanation to readers or to satisfy our own curiosity—that is set off in a text box (as this one).
Most of the photos that accompany this post are from Don’s camera (with a caption indicating the time it was taken); those from MT’s iPhone are indicated by “MT” placed at the beginning of the photo caption. Photos from any other source (such as the public domain Wikimedia Commons), occasionally used for clarification, indicate that source in the caption.

The Viking Daily newsletter showed today's weather forecast as "Partly Cloudy 73° F" and "Sunrise: 5:24 AM."

Don woke at 6 am (MT was already up).

First, we reviewed the  Port Talk - Hilo on the TV in our stateroom, since we would finally arrive there the next day.

At 8:30, we went to The Restaurant (Deck 2) for breakfast (for the first time on this cruise).

At 9:15-10:15, we walked on the track (Deck 2).

At 11:30, we went to the Pool Grill (Deck 7) for our favorite lunch of seared ahi tuna and onion marmalade.

At 12:15, we went to the Star Theater for "Finish the Lyrics - 1950s & 1960s" game, emceed by Assistant Cruise Director Jonny Lindsay.

At 1:00, we went to the World Café (Deck 7) for fruit salad and gelato.

At 3:00, MT went to Torshaven (Deck 2) for Disco Dance Class; Don went to the Star Theater (Deck 2) for the Guest Lecture "Deep-Sea Expeditions  How We Get There and Back," where Kelly Walsh gave an overview of advanced technologies for withstanding pressure on deep dives.

At 4:15, we went to the Star Theater (Deck 2) for Port Talk--Hawai'i Overview.

At 6:00, we went to the World Café (Deck 7) for Surf & Turf Lobster dinner prepared by Executive Chef Joseph and his culinary team.

(Neither of us took any photos for the blog today, although MT must have continued taking several for the Name Tag Challenge.)
